“We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Romans 6:4
what is baptism?
Your next step with Christ. The Bible teaches us that water baptism is the next important step in our walk with God after making a commitment to follow Him. Baptism is a public profession of an inward decision. In Scripture, we learn that people were baptized after making a commitment to Christ. (Acts 8:36-39; Acts 2:41; Acts 9:18)
why get baptized?
Baptism is God’s commandment for all believers. Following His resurrection, Jesus commissioned His disciples:
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20
what happens in baptism?
We publicly profess our new life in Christ. In going under the water, the believer is joining in Jesus’ death on the cross and thus crucifying the “old self” — bondage, brokenness, and all — and rising out of that sin into freedom and newness of life in Christ.
